Create an Auto Attendant Greeting in 8x8 Admin Console

Objective

Create an Auto Attendant greeting in Admin Console.

Procedure

Step 1: Log in to Admin Console

  1. Log in to the 8x8 Admin Console.
     
  2. Click Auto Attendants.
     
 

Step 2: Create or Edit an Auto Attendant

  • To create a new Auto Attendant, click Create Auto Attendant.
     
  • To update an existing Auto Attendant, click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the Auto Attendant.
     
 

Step 3: Select the Call Handling Menu

  1. In the Call Handling Menus section, select the menu where you want to add or update a greeting.
     
Note:
You must assign a Site to the Auto Attendant before the Call Handling Menus are available.
 

Step 4: Choose a Greeting Option

You can configure the greeting in one of the following ways:
  1. Use Text-to-Speech
     
    • Enter the text you want read aloud by an automated voice.
       
    • Click Save.
       
  2. Skip Playing Prompt
     
  • No greeting is played.
     
  • Calls go directly to the menu options.
     
  • Click Save.
     
  • Play Audio (Recorded Greeting) and then click Select File, then continue to Step 5 to record a greeting.

  1. Step 5: Record an Audio Greeting

  2. Click + Create Audio Files.
     
  3. From the pop-up menu, select By Calling a Number to Record.
     
  4. Enter:
     
    • A name for the recording
       
    • The phone number or extension to call
       
  5. Click Call Now.
     
  6. Answer the call and record your greeting.
     
  7. Save the recording.

  8. Result

    Your Auto Attendant greeting is now saved and will play for callers based on your configured menu settings.
     
     

    Step 6: Confirm and Finish

  9. Wait for confirmation that the audio file has uploaded successfully.
     
  10. Click Finished only after receiving the confirmation.
     
  11. End the call.
